Our History & Traditions

Why Over 45+ Years of Success?

In 1974, at the age of 19, I moved from my native town of Merrick, NY to Southampton, NY and started Dave Bofill Marine. Very fortunate to have been tutored by the greatest of the day, Al Grover, Oak Gentry, Charlie Witzke, Dave Merklin, Andy Dirmeir, Ron Ames, Bill Edgar and Ray Berti (just to name a few), I learned how to survive, build and prosper.

As the “second generation” starts to nestle in, today you’ll meet Terry Scudder, to which I take great pride and enjoyment in mentoring. Terry is our “front person” in customer service and on the sales floor (and has made us grandparents with three awesome boys!) You’ll find Terry extremely personable and well organized; always on top monitoring quality and timeliness.

Fredy Jaramillo reconditions and prepares teak and fiberglass as no other, Carlos Cadavid remains the BEST detailer in the business, Walter Hidalgo is our “to go to” guy that keeps the machines running and things in order and Bayron Martinez handles and transports our boats as though they were his. Between these four professionals, there’s over eighty years of experience and all trained personally by me.

All our technicians, led by long time team member Davy Roche, are factory certified and specialize in keeping your Chris Craft operating smooth and efficiently.

Last (but not least) is our office staff. Our bookkeeper, Sandy L’Hommedieu, is our financial right hand; Sandy and I have been together over 15 years, developing a forever trusting and solid bond. Colleen (often referred to as my better half) takes care of the many behind the scenes details, all financing needs for our new clients, and is often my sounding board. Eileen rounds things off by taking care of all our registration details…

So why Over 45+ years of Success?

“No matter who and what you are, you’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with”.

Simple… We’ve got the best crew in the business!
